This goal defies every law of physics.
Matt Eliason pretty much stole Lionel Messi’s thunder today during the Messi & Friends match at Soldier Field in Chicago. Matt was a late addition to the roster this week after a a number of professional players dropped out, and he doesn’t play soccer professionally. He didn’t even officially have a scholarship when he enrolled at Northwestern, but left the university as NU’s all-time leading scorer and 3-time All-Big Ten selection. He graduated with me in 2011, is a really cool and nice guy on top of being an extremely talented soccer player, but wasn’t able to get anything in the MLS to stick…so now he’s “just” an analyst for GE Capital. Who knows if this goal will get him a second look this time around…regardless, Matt, the 9 other players with NU ties, and Coach Lenahan made Northwestern proud. Go ‘Cats!pretty sure this is going to be a ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 tonight/tomorrow…here’s to hoping it’s #1!
